David A. Hodnefield
HIG President & CEO

David Hodnefield is the founder of Historical Information Gatherers, established in 1997. 
As President and CEO of HIG, David develops HIG business partnerships, designs and develops products, creates digital imaging standards and processes, and oversees the Acquisitions Division, Operations Division, and the Sales & Marketing Department. 

To build HIG’s extensive library, David develops partnerships with libraries, publishers, government agencies and private collection holders.  He develops customized imaging techniques to digitize historical documents and also designs and fabricates modifications to scanning equipment in order to digitize historical documents not easily processed by existing technology.  David’s more recent work has concentrated on the design of custom databases for storage and retrieval of historical documents to be used by HIG and by HIG’s clients. 

As a former environmental consultant, David conducted historical property research for hundreds of environmental site assessment projects throughout the United States.  He has extensive knowledge of the options available to meet the historical property research requirements of AAI and ASTM Phase I ESA Standards. 

David is a detail orientated person who understands that our clients need high quality historical documents.  He is readily available for price quotes on custom research products and loves to hear from our clients.

Suzanne F. W. D’Souza, PSS
HIG Sales Representative

Suzanne is responsible for helping to keep the lines of communication open with our clients and to identify potential new clients that would be a good fit for HIG’s products and services.  Before joining HIG, Suzanne worked for over seventeen years as an environmental consultant and has conducted hundreds of environmental site assessments (ESAs) and transaction screen assessments.  She is well versed with ASTM E1527-97, E1527-00 and E1527-05 standards for phase I ESAs; ASTM E1528-93, E1528-00 and E1528-06 standards for transaction screen assessments and the All Appropriate Inquiry final rule 40 C.F.R. Part 312.

Suzanne understands the importance of using accurate and high quality historical property information in order to formulate the correct conclusions and recommendations for environmental due diligence work.  Suzanne’s extensive professional experience has provided her with the necessary knowledge to understand our client’s point of view. A high-energy and enthusiastic individual who thrives on teamwork, Suzanne is also an enthusiastic and engaging public speaker with a varied repertoire.

Suzanne has a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from the College of Natural Resources at the University of Minnesota, with an emphasis in water and soil resources.  She is a Professional Soil Scientist (PSS) Licensed in the State of Minnesota. Suzanne is currently the executive director of the Minnesota Association of Professional Soil Scientists, chair of the Forum of Women in the Environmental Field and a member of the Wisconsin Society of Professional Soil Scientists and Illinois Soil Classifiers Association.
