HIG Project Researcher and Client Services Coordinator

Sara joined the HIG Research team in March 2010.  As a project researcher, her area of expertise is historical property records. She works with city and county governments to gather tax, building and fire records and she conducts interviews of local officials, when needed, in lieu of available records.  Sara also serves as a Customer Services Coordinator and was recently appointed HIG's Lien/AUL Search and Chain of Title point person.

Sara has been a member of the Advocacy Committee for the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota since 2009. She helped organize the annual “Anti-Wrecking Ball” event held to announce the 10 Most Endangered Places of the year and she also was a judge on the Endangered Places Committee. Sara also volunteers for the preservation taskforce of the Whittier Alliance, a neighborhood group in Minneapolis.

Sara has a degree in Historic Preservation and Community Planning from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. While in Charleston, she enjoyed field trips through the historic city for her many preservation classes. Sara volunteered with the Charleston Preservation Society as a docent during their annual historic homes tours and had the opportunity to see the interior of beautiful historic mansions. Sara also volunteered along the Gulf Coast in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, and in the summer of 2006, took a course at Tulane University that delved into the impacts of the storm on the city’s architecture, demographics, and culture. Additionally while in New Orleans, Sara interned at the Preservation Resource Center, and updated the records of several buildings with façade easements that sustained damage from Hurricane Katrina.

In her free time, you can find Sara walking around old Minneapolis neighborhoods and lakes with her dog, Frank.  She also enjoys refinishing old furniture and home accessories she uncovers at thrift stores and estate sales.

Sara can be reached at 952-253-2004 ext 112 or saran@historicalinfo.com.
