HIG - City Directories

Street listings found in many city directories are valuable historical data sources because they may be the only means of identifying past occupants of buildings. HIG typically provides our clients with copies of the original directory pages in approximate five year intervals. Nearby cross streets or parallel streets may be provided in addition to the target property's street.

HIG currently maintains a vast library of city directories for various cities, counties, and metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. Acquisitions are ongoing, continuously adding years and cities to our collection. Ideal coverage ranges from the 1930s to the early 2000s, with directories available for some locations as far back as the 1890s.
