Historical Information Gatherers, Inc. seeks candidates for Research and Data Acquisition positions at our headquarters office in Hopkins, Minnesota.
Job Description:
Research tasks involve the use of GIS and other software to identify and produce sets of Aerial Photography and other historical data for specified locations. Additional responsibilities may include documentation of data, indexing of geographic data sets, and local travel to obtain supplemental files and resources. Data Acquisition tasks include operating scanning and digitizing equipment including large-format scanners and digital cameras, safely handling original historical source material, data conversion and formatting, and company-supported travel to data sources throughout the Midwest and beyond. Currently offered positions are full time, and may include aspects of either or both Research and Acquisitions.
Required Qualifications:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including reading comprehension.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and overall PC operation.
Preferred Applicants will have:
- Familiarity or better with ArcGIS, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat Pro software.
- Work experience operating scanners, digital cameras, or other digitizing equipment.
- Availability to travel out of state up to two weeks at a time.
- Familiarity with common historical data sets such as Maps, Property Records, Aerial Photography, and City Directories.
- Familiarity with Environmental Site Assessment and environmental regulations.
Compensation:
Wages begin at $10-12/hour, D.O.Q. Full-time positions are eligible for complete compensation packages including health, paid time off, and retirement benefits after an initial probationary period.
